High Gas Prices

Gas prices at an average price would be around three dollars, but some prices have skyrocketed to about $3.50-$4.00 a gallon per average. Some people think the reasons for gas prices going up really fast is because of the cost of Crude Oil. According to CNN, the cost of Crude Oil in the future market has risen 33 percent in the last year. This also effects other places in the world such as Nigeria, Iraq and the Gulf Of Mexico.
Now most people think that oil companies set the prices, but it is the global market that sets it. Pretty much, the market decides what people are willing to pay at a certain time. A lot of that has to do with the fact that the world is getting richer. The world is getting richer by the growth of the population in some of the countries such as China, India. Also, Republicans want to open up Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).
If ANWR were opened to drilling, it would add about 900,00 barrels of oil per day to global supplies, resulting in having gas prices going higher; the reason being that the more oil you use the more money you have to pay to get the oil to get in the gas. Do you think that ANWR should be open to drilling? If you were in the Global Market what would you do to the prices? Do like the prices the way they are or do you want them lower? What would you do to help out the world to make the prices lower? What are the benefits of higher gas prices? Here is some basic info about gas prices.

  1. I don't think it would be a good idea for ANWR to let the U.S start drilling because nobody wants higher gas prices. Of course it would be reassuring to know that we have lot's of oil but almost nobody wants to pay higher prices for gas when it's already at a sky rocketing 3.75. To be honest I wouldn't know how to help make the gas prices lower. Of course if you knew how you would but nobody does. Some of the benefits of higher gas prices would be that we would know we have a lot of gas which can support the human cycle.

  2. I think that ANWR shouldn't be opened to drilling, no one wants to have to spend more money on higher gas prices especially if they travel a lot. It would however bring in more tax dollars, which go to highway repair and infrastructure. I can't think of anyway to lower gas prices, if there were a way someone probably would have exploited it already. As almost everyone, I think that gas prices should be lower, hopefully sometime soon there will be a solution to high gas prices.

  3. I don't think it would be a good Idea to let ANWR to let because, no one wants to have higher gas prices. It might also bring more tax dollars though, which go to highway repair and infrastructure. I can't think of any or any other ways to lower gas prices, if there were a way someone would have used it wrongly already. I believe that gas prices should be lowered. Also there will eventually be a time tat I believe they will lower gas prices.

  4. I guess I agree with everyone else in that I don't think they should start drilling there (mainly because a lot of people are always like "bluh bluh bluh gas prices are too high bluh bluh bluh"). Again, if I was in the global market, I would have it lowered. I guess maybe a bit lower would be good, I haven't really looked at gas prices recently. I'm guessing that having high gas prices could be a better thing because that means that the global market would think that we would be willing to pay more, so that means that there would be more people with money. I think.

  5. I do not think the the ANWR should be open for drilling because it would just cause a lot of problems in the world. I mean if I were them I would try to save the oil for when we NEED it. Also if I were them I would keep the prices the same because it would just cause problems and it is high enough for them to get a decant amount of money. Of course I would like the prices lower just that the economy is still having problems and if they get lowered then it may cause more problems. If I could help I would try to find something that can run on less gas or something else than gas or oil. The benefits of higher prices would be ether that the economy would be better or that everyone would be mad and it would cause problems in the world and I bet that is what they are deciding over right now.

  6. I don't really think the ANWR should be open to drilling because there could be another natural disaster and the company will pay up until a few years have passed and the government will say you don't have to pay any more. Well I can't really say what I'd do I'd rather more than change prices I'd find make an alternate resource to use. I don't like the prices they're just to damn high and I want them lower but given the economy and other things I don't think I could. Like I said I would try to find another resource to use. Well it makes the big corporations that are behind the gas make more money.

  7. I don't think the ANWR should be open to drilling. The gas prices have already skyrocketed to 4.00. I think that if we drill a hole that there will just be even more problems. I do think that it would be a good idea to lower the gas prices. But having it higher also benefits us like having the economy in a better state. But if I could choose I would choose to lower.

  8. I don't think that they should open up drilling, because higher gas prices are one of the last things we need. Because we aren't being allowed to travel, and do sports and do other things that we would like to. Although in some ways, higher gas prices are kind of helping some people. Raising gas prices is causing people to drive slower so that they can burn less gas, and having to pay more for gas is causing people to be more careful with how they are spending their money. But I don't think that the prices right now are TERRIBLE, maybe they could be a little lower.

  9. I think ANWR drilling has a good and a bad. The good is that there will be more oil and more gasoline for automobiles. The bad is that the cost will continue going up, if it's already very high and increases it will make even more people angry, and they will be losing more money. If I was in Global Market, I would try to find a happy median of prices that a lot of people can agree on, not $4 which I think is to expensive and not $2 because then oil companies and gas companies wouldn't make very much money. To make the prices lower would be very difficult but if there was one way to fix it, then that would be to find more oil, cause if they're was more oil they might be able to lower prices cause they have enough. The benefits of having higher gas is that the oil companies are getting paid more , which they do have a very hard job.

  10. I think that drilling would not be a very smart choice because, the demand for gas is not going to make the gas prices go down but, up. If I was in the Global Market I really think it would be hard to lower the prices becuse, of everyone who wants them raised for their own personal preference. Compared to China's gas prices I think we need to be thankful of how low they are. Higher gas prices mean lower taxes to pay for the gas.

  11. I don't know if all this drilling is good, didn't most of the world think we would run off of nuclear or something by now? The demand for gas right now and how much it costs is pretty crazy right now, I guess the world is in that stage were practically everything runs off of gas while we come up with something better....

  12. I would get rid of oil all together, unless we absolutly NEED it, electic cars wouldent work becouse where do you get the electricity from? Fossil fuels. D: i would ether use hydrogen or solar/wind and nuke power for energy Yay nuke power *explosion*

  13. I don't think ANWR should be open to drilling. And we really need to move on to other power sources like wind, solar, nuclear, and hydro. If I ran the world the only need for gas/oil would be for military use and rail transport then every thing else would be using solar, wind and hydro.
There are cars now in use that have a hydrogen and oxygen motor and the only exhaust is water so if most vehicles were run on that and solar/wind most of our oil issues would be gone

  14. I think the ANWR should drill all the oil out of the world so then somebody has to come up with a fuel source that is just as effective. And if I was in the global market I would probably raise prices because if I was in the global market I would be more focused on the money instead of the peoples needs. But as a consumer I would like gas prices lowered if it wouldn't have a possibly catastrophic impact on our finical situation. Also higher gas prices mean moor money for the government so we can sort out some major problems.

  15. I really don't care about gas prices. If someone were to ask me about it though, I would say "Lower the gas prices and give money to the poor." But like Tristan said we should drill a hole out of the oil.

  16. I don't want ANWR to drill. I mean, yeah more gas! but NOOOO HIGHER PRICES. It's already expensive enough as is! If I were in charge, I would make gas prices 2.25. That sounds good.
