Retaliation of al Qaeda

Osama Bin Laden was killed May 1, 2011. Osama Bin Laden has been hiding for nearly a decade from the U.S. He was found and killed in a mansion outside Abbottabad in north-west Pakistan. President Obama made killing Osama Bin Laden one of the highest priorities for the war against al Qaeda. A CIA team that worked for the president had been tracking Osama for nearly four years and when they knew this was the time to take him out, they talked to President Obama. Obama gave them permission to take out Osama as long as it was not told to anybody. Shortly after Osama Bin Laden was killed, President Obama issued a global traveling warning for U.S. citizens.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security expects that al Qaeda with have some "Retaliation Threats," because we have killed one of their leader, Osama Bin Laden. But we haven't been worried about it because nearly a decade ago al Qaeda declared war on the U.S. and have had many threats in almost 10 years. What do you think the retaliation of al Qaeda will be? How should the U.S. handle the retaliation if al Qaeda people decide to retaliate? Did we do the right thing by keeping the body and sending it out to sea, or should we have given it back to al Qaeda people?

  1. I think it was a memorable day the day Osama died. I think a lot of people will remember that day too. If the Al Queada people do decide to retaliate I think they should do just what they did with Osama. I think they did do they right thing by burying his body, I think the reason they buried his body at sea was because they didn't want it to be a shrine. I do think that this isn't over between them and us. I think they will still terrorize us. It is not the end of the book just the end of the chapter.

  2. I honestly think we did a good job of of putting the body in the sea. Honestly I think it was an important day that Osama Bin Laden died. He was probably one of the worst terrorist's. I don't think we should give it to the Al-Qaeda people. They will probably get really mad and start on a rant and try to destroy the US.

  3. First of all, we should defiantly not give the body to al Qaeda people, it would most likely result in worst things. It was also good that they did not put the body in a grave, for it would indeed turn into a shrine. But the fact that they would not release a picture of him dead, I imagine lots of the al Qaeda people (and others) believe he isn't dead. I also believe the fact that he is dead will indeed fire up terrorists into more attacks, no one will know for sure when they will happen and by the time it happens people will not think that him dying is why, but now the al Qaeda people have a real reason for revenge

  4. I think that burying him at sea wasn't bad, but it also wasn't good, by burying him at sea, they might have gotten rid of the possibility of making his grave a shrine, but along with not releasing any photos of him dead, that can lead to people thinking that the military didn't actually kill him. If anything could provoke Al Queda more, it would be the death of Bin Laden, which might be why they didn't release a photo of him dead. Killing Bin Laden only gave Al Queda another reason to fight against us, I'm not saying that his death was a bad thing, but the retaliation might be more than we could handle.

  5. I think that burying at sea was a good choice because, by giving his body to the al Qaeda, Osama would have become a Martyr. Which in the US eyes he isn't a someone who was killed because, of his belief but for the reason he hurt and killed so many people. The retaliation of the al Qaeda wasn't a suprise to me, when I found out that Osama Bin Laden was killed, I was asking:, "What about the rest of the al Qaeda?". I don't know how the US should handle this its a situation that was pretty much expected.

  6. it's normal to be mad at who killed your leader, its even the expected response. i'm not suprised. i think they should have thrown it of the boat, it would be more of an insult to the people that buried his body.

  7. It will be fine because like you said we have been in war for 10 years so we should be fine.I think we should be a little more careful just in case better to be safe than sorry.I think we did do the right thing be cause you never know what they may do with it.

  9. While killing Osama Bin Laden was probably a very good idea to the Western World it has just opened a door to many other problems, such as retaliation. Personally I think that it would have been the good thing to give the body back. His grave may become a shrine and may urge the Al Qaeda to attack but I think that since we've dealt with them before that now we now what to do to counter the issues. And every day we are strengthening our counter-terrorist tactics.

  10. Killing Osama was a great moment in history. I agree with Raegen. Putting him into the ocean was a great idea. But I'm still not sure if he is still alive or dead. I think they should release the pictures to the public. But, they will get revenge for killing him, so lets hope nothing terribly bad happens.

  11. I believe that we should be prepared, but not afraid. Osama Bin Laden's death was the lighting of a short fuse. We now must find out whether we are dealing with a fizzle or a bang. The United States will stay prepared and alert now more than ever and will protect the lives of those that are in danger. Though Osama Bin Laden did bad things throughout his life, I don't believe we had the right to decide what happened to his body.

  12. (Let's pretend I don't already know and say what I would say when this happened.) Several attacks on whatever they can that is american or an ally of us but we'll just probably take out all the people not willing to surrender and stay where al Qaeda is. I also think we did the right thing keeping the body and sending it out to see. It was a respectful way to bury him.

  13. Wel it depends on the person there are home grown Al Queda in America they could try to avenge his death anytime, while Al Queda as a group is known to be patient and exact. I think we can be prepared but not scared being scared makes you do horrible decisions. I think we could've gave it back to the Al Queda and have a traditional Islamic funeral. The reason why is they think we are the bad one's and we don't respect any religion other than christianity if we did that it might help cool down the war a little bit.
